About Mark Walker & Pineapple Publications

Mark Walker is a freelance writer who has published works on Latin and ancient history as well as music and movies. He holds a Degree in Philosophy from Durham University, and is studying for an MA in Classics with Lampeter University.

He is the author of Annus Horribilis: Latin for Everyday Life, Annus Mirabilis: More Latin for Everyday Life and Britannica Latina: 2000 Years of British Latin.

In 2004, Mark set up Pineapple Publications to publish his first novel, the historical epic Amida

In 2006 Pineapple Publications published Mark's textbook for adult Latin students, Latin for Everyday Life. (This has now been replaced by the Tempus edition of Annus Horribilis).

Mark gained his own Latin qualifications as an adult, an experience which inspired him to create his own bespoke Latin course specifically for adult learners. He currently teaches that course, Latin for Everyday Life, via Buckinghamshire’s Adult Education programme.

During his previous career in publishing and journalism, Mark wrote, edited and contributed to many books, magazines, newspapers and internet sites. He was the editor of the Gramophone Film Music and Musicals Good CD Guides, and continues to write about music at every opportunity: recent commissions include concert notes from the Halle Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra.
